So, Why Are PFAS Bad
You can find many articles on this, but to sum it up, they are bad because they have been linked to a plethora of health and environmental issues. They can take years to leave the body, and repeated exposure to some chemicals can cause a buildup.
Why Are PFAS In Clothing
There were originally two main companies responsible for the development and manufacturing of PFAS, they were Dupont and 3M. For example, the Teflon chemical, by Dupont, is the one you are probably most familiar with. However, PFAS have been used in clothing since the 1950s to make clothing more water and stain-resistant.
It is thought that the largest use of PFAS in clothing was in workout wear and outdoor clothing. However, it can also be found in a wide range of everyday clothing.
