Local Quilting Groups

It may be tempting to just throw those pieces of fabric away, but what if they could be made into a warm blanket or throw? If your area has a quilting society, they may be willing to accept fabric remnants of clean, unused material.

Laundry Recycling The Old Way

Recycle The Old Way

Back in the day, you didn’t throw anything away until it really couldn’t be used again. Things didn’t get tossed just because they no longer looked the part. Try reviving this simple method, and see how little you can toss out this year!

If your best shirt no longer looks good enough to go out on the town, then wear it around the house instead. When that washcloth starts to look frayed or thin, make it into a cleaning rag. If the t-shirt is full of holes tear it up for grease rags.

Then use it until it can’t be used anymore, and finally make it into a fire starter for that late-night bonfire.

Buy Less, and Wear it Longer

If your one pair of underwear has a hole, or your sock lets your toes peek through, buy a new pack. However, instead of opening them and using them all, just toss the old, and replace them with one new item. Keep the others in a safe place and don’t use them until you wear out the next item.

You may be surprised to see how much that old pair of socks stretched or that used underwear shrunk when you get out the new ones and compare them to the used ones. :-0 It wasn’t just your imagination after all!

So no matter what your preference, there is really no reason to fill the landfills up with old laundry, try recycling it instead!
